Robert says his comedic inspirations are Eddie Murphy, Ron White, Patrice O’Neal and Daniel Tosh. He says he gets his material from everyday life. “Once you come up with a comedic style everything can be funny. It’s not what you say, but how you say it!” Powell got his comedic start from a dare to perform at an open mic night in Shreveport, Louisiana. Determined to make his mark, Robert continued to work on his craft and performed any chance he could get. Powell’s talent grew along with his popularity. Powell went on to become Louisiana’s Comedian of the Year three times.
